Looking for an HSKK Beginner practice test? Well, I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that we’ve got more than 20 questions from the official HSKK practice test for you to work with. The bad news is that we can’t actually test whether you’ve gotten the right answer. Since the HSKK is a spoken test, you’ll be graded on your verbal responses and that’s not something we can actually provide. If you really want to know whether you’re getting the answer right, sit down with a friend, teacher, or tutor, and have them listen to the question and then your answer.
And in case you’re wondering, the actual HSKK doesn’t involve speaking with a teacher. Instead, you’ll sit down and listen to a recording or read a question, then be given between 15 seconds and 2 minutes to record your reply. Your recorded response is then sent to be scored at Hanban; I don’t know the details but presumably they have professional teachers who listen to the recordings and score them.
For these first fifteen questions, you don’t need to worry about answering any questions, you just need to repeat back the sentence or phrase you hear. The teachers will grade you on accuracy and pronunciation.
For these next ten questions, you’ll hear a question. In the test you’ll have 5-10 seconds to think of an answer and then 15 seconds to give your answer.
For these last two questions, you’ll need to read the question, take a bit of time to think of your answer, and then you’ll have 1.5 minutes to answer. These answers are meant to be significantly longer than the previous questions.
